Lifestyle Modification to Lower Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a waxy substance that’s found in the fats (lipids) in your blood. Cholesterol is necessary in our body because it helps in hormone production and helps in the metabolism of the fat soluble vitamins. Having cholesterol in our blood is normal but when it will be more than what the body needs that is the time it is considered as dangerous. Having an increased level of cholesterol in the blood is called as hypercholesterolemia, this condition places the person at risk of many cardiovascular conditions because cholesterol tends to lodge in the blood vessel, upon lodging, and it makes the blood vessels narrow that causes high blood pressure and stroke. When the blood vessels are narrowed there is an in adequate supply of blood in major organs that will lead to stroke.
Different books provide variety of ways to lower cholesterol levels but then the most effective way in reducing it is modifying the lifestyle because hypercholesterolemia can be inherited or acquired like any other illness that existed. Life style modification includes:
Having a Healthy Diet, a diet which lowers the cholesterol level, the avoidance of eating high cholesterol foods. Such as the meat and internal organs of animals because these foods has an increase cholesterol. Eating foods rich in fiber such as grains, fruits and vegetable. Having a high fiber food in the diet helps aids in the peristaltic movement of the intestine therefore defecation won’t be a problem. Having a good defecation process helps in the elimination of many toxins in the intestines.
Doing Regular Exercise, exercising in a daily basis makes ones body flexible and it helps in the proper circulation of the blood in the body. Having a good circulation eliminates the risk of having stroke because when the body is constantly moving, the blood flow tends to be smoother. Exercising also helps in the elimination of toxins through perspiration because when one is exercising the pores are opened and a toxin tends to flow out the skin. Cardio exercise is also necessary because it helps the heart function well. When the heart is well maintained by exercise it pumps very well, and it helps eliminates much heart condition.
Moderation in Drinking, too much alcohol intake damages mainly the liver but then when a person has moderation or will not drink it helps in the increase production of HDL or high density lipoprotein which is considered as the good cholesterol. This HDL helps in eliminating the LDL or low density lipoprotein because LDL is considered as the bad cholesterol, the LDL are the ones lodging in the blood vessels and causes the narrowing of the blood vessels. When blood vessels are already narrowed, the person is already a candidate of stroke; because once the vessels are narrowed there will be an inadequate supply of oxygen in the body.
Cessation in smoking, smoking tends to effects all the major organs in the body especially the lungs. Then on, smoking also affects the heart, and in some studies, it shows that smoking is also a contributing factor of having a narrowed vessel because of its content. When a person’s heart is at risk, all of the organs are also at risk, because the heart is the organ that pumps the blood through out the body, and when the heart stops beating all are affected therefore, we should always take care of the heart because once it will stop its beat, life is also over.
When a person is having high cholesterol, the doctor tends to give medication but then on identifying its cause and avoiding it is much better than spending much in order to maintain the cholesterol at its ideal level.
