Home Remedies for Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a substance found in the blood wherein when it is above the normal level it lodges to the blood vessels and the blood vessels will be hard and narrowed. Narrowed blood vessels where the major cause of many cardiovascular diseases. Hypercholesterolemia technically means there is an increase level of cholesterol in the blood. When there is an increase the person should be prepared for the next thing to happen. Visiting a doctor is the most wonderful thing to do because the doctor knows what medication is needed in order to maintain the cholesterol level.
There are types of cholesterol namely:
- LDL or Low Density Lipoprotein, LDL is also known as the bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol in the sense that it is the LDL that lodges to the blood vessels; hardens and narrowed it.
- HDL or High Density Lipoprotein, HDL is also known as the good cholesterol. Good cholesterol in the sense that it picks up the bad cholesterol and brings it back to the liver, where it will be metabolize or be eliminated.
There are many homes remedies in lowering the cholesterol levels such as:
1. Having a Low Cholesterol Diet
Low cholesterol diet includes, avoiding animal products such as the red meat and its organ because they tend to have high cholesterol. Having a plant source food is great because the plants source food don’t have any cholesterol. Foods products from plants are rich in fiber and have zero cholesterol. That is why it is important to eat fruits and vegetable because they are nutritious and they have zero cholesterol.
2. Having a Regular Exercise
Having regular exercise is necessary to promote proper body circulation. When blood flow is regular it is good for the organs to have healthy supply of blood because once you are working out the blood is well circulated and the hearts pumps much better than the usual. Having enough supply of oxygen makes the blood much red.
3. Lose Extra Pounds
Obesity is one of the major causes of hypercholesterolemia, being overweight is not healthy because the heart works much harder compared to a person having an ideal weight. Since obesity is being overweight a person should lose weight in order for her/him to lower cholesterol level. To lose weight, one should take a look at his/her diet and daily routine, and modify it into a much healthier one, then set a long sustainable goal.
4. Quit the Vices
Drinking and Smoking are the major vice that contributes to high cholesterol therefore once a person quits these things they are least targets of heart disease. Though it is not easy to quit always put in mind that when you are born these vices are not with you.
These are the few things that should be considered in lowering cholesterol in the blood because though when the condition is really bad medication is already necessary but medication should be with these things, to make it more effective in lowering the cholesterol in the blood. Many times, certain conditions are psychological therefore always have the urges to make life better than it used to.
